FWB – more than plastic…

FWB Kunststofftechnik GmbH stands for innovative development work and technical competence in plastic injection molding technology. The comprehensive support of individual customer requirements – from the idea, to the design, to the precise production of the injection molds – guarantees the demand for the highest manufacturing quality. This is also the basis for functional and cost-effective precision plastic products and thus the basis for efficient and successful cooperation with our customers.

For more than 30 years, the company FWB Kunststofftechnik GmbH has been meeting the individual requirements of well-known companies at home and abroad. With the fields of activity injection molds, automation, plastic parts (with a shot weight of 2 – 650 g) and assembly, FWB generates a turnover of approx. 20 million Euro per year with about 170 employees.

As a future-oriented company, we strive for a top position in the international plastics industry, including the associated mold manufacturing. Our focus is on innovation in plastics, mastery of complicated processes and the development of high-performance molds. Already today, we are one of the leading companies for individual solutions in Germany in our focus technologies.

In order to maintain the high technical level of FWB in the future, it has become a matter of course for us to train new specialists in the fields of tool mechanics, process mechanics for plastics technology and mechatronics. In addition, we also train young BA students in the commercial area and in development, together with our partner university. Our highly qualified and committed employees are primarily responsible for FWB’s success. Our investments in further education and training measures underline the high value of our employees.

As one of the largest employers in Pirmasens, we feel not only connected to our region but also committed to it. Our commitment to charitable aid organizations in the region, as well as our support of local schools and sports clubs, is very close to our hearts.

The history of FWB at a glance.

1980. Foundation

“FWB Kunststofftechnik GmbH”, short for “Formen- und Werkzeugbau” – mould making and tool manufacture – was founded by Manfred Schmidt. The company produces accessories for shoes such as heels, toe caps or counters.
Also in 1980, FWB set up an own tool shop.

1989. White Goods

Production of technical plastics parts started (white goods – household appliances)

1997. 2K Parts

The first two-component parts were produced for the automotive industry (air conditioning systems, hand wheels, flaps; white goods – adjusting knobs)

1999. Core-Back

First order received: production of complex two-component injection moulding parts using core-back process

2000. Sales Increase

Substantial sales increase thanks to several big orders placed by Hella (accelerators), Johnson Control (E-class car interiors) and Magna Donnelly (wing mirrors)

2002. 10 Mio. Turnover

Turnover exceeded 10 million euros with more than 100 employees

2004. TS 16949

FWB was successfully certified according to TS 16949. Turnover is 13 million euros with 121 employees.

2006. Fuel Cell

Development of the fuel cell started

2007. LED Lense

Development of the LED lens made of plastic started

2008. Automation Tech

FWB set up an own automation technology department

2009. Automated Insert Moulding

First series production project started: fully automated insert moulding of contact elements

2011. Top 20 Toolmaking

StVZO approval (German law) for the bike lamp
FWB was honoured with the “Top 20 Werkzeugbau” award

2012. Logistics center

Construction of our logistics center with a total area of ca. 2.200m²

2015. New production hall

Construction of another production hall with a total area of ca. 1.000m²
